‘Crypto king of Kentucky’ among suspects charged with kidnapping, torture of Italian trader in New York bitcoin theft plot
A wealthy Italian crypto millionaire, Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, was allegedly kidnapped and tortured in a Manhattan apartment for 17 days. John Woeltz, known as the "crypto king of Kentucky," and William Duplessie, founder of Pangea Blockchain International, are accused of holding Carturan captive, confiscating his belongings, and demanding his bitcoin password. Carturan escaped on May 23rd and alerted police, leading to the arrests of Woeltz and Duplessie.
