Malaysia is well-positioned to lead electric vehicle (EV) battery component manufacturing and support the growing regional mobility ecosystem, leveraging its strength in the electrical and electronics (E&E) sector. According to Datuk Dr. Aminar Rashid Salleh, Chairman of the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the National Automotive Policy (NAP) 2020 outlines the direction for this growth. This positions Malaysia as a potential leader in the ASEAN EV battery industry.
