20-year-old Azhad Haziq Syafaat Abdul Khalid from Sarawak made history by winning the 80kg title at the National Combat Sports Championships & Muaythai National Grand Prix 2025. He defeated Singapore's Iqmal Arif, becoming the first Sarawakian to achieve the top national ranking in the 75-80kg weight class. Remarkably, Azhad usually competes in the 70kg category and had to gain 10kg for this competition. He views this victory as motivation for future success and plans to return to his preferred 70kg division.
