SPPAA urges delay of fuel subsidy schemes in Sarawak
The Sarawak Petroleum Product Agents Association (SPPAA) has requested the federal and state governments to postpone the implementation of the Subsidised Diesel Control System 2.0 (SKDS 2.0) and the targeted petrol subsidy scheme (SKPS) in Sarawak. They argue that Sarawak's unique operating environment, especially in rural areas, requires more logistical, financial, and digital preparation. While supporting the government's subsidy goals, SPPAA emphasizes the need to ensure operational and financial readiness, particularly for rural stations. They call for consultations to address cash flow, system readiness, and administrative complexity, and suggest exploring state-supported financial facilities to ease the transition.
