Thailand’s only NGO-run wildlife hospital opens, treats victims of animal exploitation
Yong, a pig-tailed macaque rescued from coconut harvesting, received treatment at Thailand's only NGO-run wildlife hospital, the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT). The WFFT treats a diverse range of animals, from small sugar gliders to large elephants, posing challenges for the veterinary staff who often have to improvise equipment. Yong underwent a full health check, including sedation, blood tests, X-rays, and removal of metal rings used in his former life. The hospital also treats other animals like bears, tigers, and elephants for various ailments.
