13MP: RM2b flood mitigation works in Kuching to start early next year, says Fadillah
A RM2 billion flood mitigation project in Kuching City is set to be tendered this year and begin implementation next year. Led by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, the project includes a canal, bridge, and a new barrage at Sungai Salak to control water overflow and prevent saltwater intrusion. Two initial packages were approved under the 12MP, with the full project, including the barrage, falling under the 13MP. This is Sarawak's largest 13MP allocation. Other 13MP infrastructure projects include the Pan Borneo Highway extension, the Trans Borneo project, and the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road, as well as border area development.
