Massive fire guts paint factory in Simpang Ampat, no casualties reported
A paint factory in Simpang Ampat, Penang, was ravaged by fire, sending plumes of black smoke visible for over 10km. The fire, which started around 1:27 pm, quickly engulfed the 10,000-square-foot warehouse storing paint and solvents, spreading to an adjacent warehouse containing methanol and toluene. Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze, containing it by 2:50 pm. No casualties were reported, but operations continued into the afternoon. The incident caused widespread alarm among residents, with images circulating on social media.
