With Razarudin set to retire, who are the frontrunners to succeed him as IGP?
Malaysia's Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain is retiring on June 22, sparking speculation about his successor. Deputy IGP Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay is considered the frontrunner, with a strong background in counter-terrorism and criminal investigation. Other potential candidates include Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim, the director of Internal Security and Public Order, and Datuk Seri Ramli Din, the director of the Commercial Crime Investigation Department. Ayob Khan's experience leading operations against IS and LTTE, along with his roles as Johor police chief and director of Narcotics and Criminal Investigation departments, makes him a strong contender.
