Over 10,000 Israeli soldiers have been killed or injured since the start of the war in Gaza, according to an unnamed senior military official quoted by Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. This contradicts official figures, which report 861 soldiers killed and 5,921 injured. The unnamed official also stated thousands are suffering from PTSD. The war, ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 54,500 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and a looming famine for the region's 2 million residents despite international calls for a ceasefire.
