80 peratus kematian di laut punca tidak pakai jaket keselamatan
Approximately 80% of 226 maritime accidents, including drownings, in Malaysia last year were attributed to the failure to wear life jackets, primarily among fishermen and passenger boat users. The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) recorded 1,348 victims in these incidents, with 64 fatalities and 25 missing. This year, the trend continues with 108 incidents, 251 victims, 36 deaths, and 12 missing in just five months. The MMEA is concerned about the rising numbers and emphasizes the importance of life jacket use through its Maritime Safety Awareness Day campaign.
