Over 60,000 union members in Sabah
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that 60,764 workers in the state are members of registered trade unions, comprising government, private sector, and statutory body employees. With a workforce exceeding 1.7 million, Sabah's GDP reached RM84.3 billion in 2022, driven by key sectors like agriculture and services. Hajiji urged unions to proactively protect worker welfare amidst globalization and technological advancements, emphasizing fair wages, skills development, and workplace safety.
