Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim emphasized good governance as crucial for attracting investment and ensuring equitable progress. He highlighted the Malaysian government's reforms, including strengthening the National Audit Department's mandate and establishing a committee to address serious irregularities, recovering RM159 million in public funds. The "follow-the-public-money" approach extends auditing to all entities receiving public funds, curbing leakage and corruption. Good governance is also central to the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), alongside economic growth and social protection, requiring public service reform and private sector support.

Putrajaya supports Sarawak’s integrity drive, says Chief Secretary to the Government

The Malaysian Federal Government pledged continued support for Sarawak's efforts to enhance integrity in its administration. Chief Secretary Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar emphasized integrity's importance beyond anti-corruption, encompassing trust, transparency, and accountability. He highlighted Malaysia's improved ranking in the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking and the bribery and corruption indicator, attributing it to increased business confidence in government efforts. Shamsul Azri urged all sectors to contribute to achieving the national goal of ranking among the top 25 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index by 2033.

Integrity summit to gather 800 reps from across Borneo

The inaugural Borneo International Integrity Summit (BIIS) 2025 will be held in Kuching, Sarawak from July 29-30, 2025. Over 800 participants from across Borneo and neighboring countries will gather to promote good governance and ethical leadership. Organized by the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit, UPM Sarawak, and KUUB, the summit aims to foster integrity as a cornerstone of sustainable development. The event will feature academics, civil servants, students, and government representatives, focusing on transparency, innovation, and ethical leadership for a sustainable future.
