MCC launches eco-initiatives at Bario’s Pesta Nukenen 2025
The Miri City Council (MCC) has reinforced its dedication to sustainable development in the Kelabit Highlands, focusing on infrastructure improvements, waste management, and eco-tourism. At the Pesta Nukenen 2025 opening in Bario, Miri mayor Adam Yii emphasized aligning development with cultural values and environmental preservation. Key initiatives include a solar-powered waste-to-ash system, beautification projects like the Bario Community Park, and the Ngeribed Bawang initiative to cultivate native flora. MCC aims to establish Bario as a model eco-tourism village, supported by improved infrastructure and cleanliness, and allocated RM80,000 for pre-festival enhancements.
