Sabah launches first autism centre
Sabah launched its first autism centre, the Sabah Autism Centre (Paus), in Sembulan to provide affordable education and early intervention for children aged 3-8. Managed by the State Welfare Department, Paus collaborates with Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and currently serves 47 children. With government subsidies, monthly fees are RM300, significantly lower than private centres. Given Sabah's 6,122 autistic children, more centres are planned for Tawau, Sandakan, Kudat, and Beaufort.
