Mesyuarat SOM tekan kepentingan Sidang Kemuncak ASEAN ke-46 – Amran
The ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), chaired by Malaysian Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin, focused on strengthening ASEAN's work throughout the year in preparation for the 46th ASEAN Summit, the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit scheduled for May 26-27, 2025. Discussions emphasized the 46th ASEAN Summit's importance in advancing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, aiming for a resilient, innovative, and people-oriented ASEAN. The summits with the GCC and China are seen as platforms to strengthen external relations, particularly in energy, trade, investment, and sustainable development. The SOM also exchanged views with Timor-Leste on regional developments and mutual interests, including ASEAN Community building, the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, Timor-Leste's progress towards full ASEAN membership, and the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
