Storms kill 25 in central and south US, flatten homes, cut power to hundreds of thousands
Severe storms ravaged Missouri, Kentucky, and Virginia, leaving over 25 dead and widespread destruction. Kentucky suffered the most casualties with at least 18 fatalities, while Missouri reported seven and Virginia two. The storms flattened homes, uprooted trees, and left nearly 200,000 without power. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency in five counties. Eastern Kentucky, a historically impoverished area, was particularly hard hit, with many residents living in vulnerable manufactured homes. More severe weather is anticipated.
