Sindiket tipu ‘gift card’ tumpas di P. Pinang
Malaysian police busted a 'gift card' scam syndicate operating from a luxury condominium in Alma, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. Six individuals, including four Malaysians and two foreign nationals, aged 18 to 38, were arrested. The syndicate used Telegram to lure victims with fake gift card offers. Local suspects confessed to working as call centre operators for a week, earning RM2,600 monthly, while the foreigners are believed to be the masterminds. Police seized computers, phones, and RM5,000 cash. The syndicate obtained victim information from a Telegram group and passed it to a third party, likely operating from Kuala Lumpur.
