Four food premises in Penang, Malaysia, were immediately shut down for 14 days due to unsanitary conditions, including rat droppings found in storage, kitchen, and frozen food areas. The closure, effective until May 22, 2025, follows a joint operation by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and other enforcement agencies. The operation focused on license compliance, hygiene, food handling, smoking bans, and tax regulations. Fines were also issued for price control violations and smoking on the premises.
