Absenteeism, unapproved leave top offenses among civil servants, says Chief Secretary
Malaysia's Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, highlighted absenteeism, unauthorized leave, and uncertified sick leave as the most common offenses among civil servants. He warned that department heads concealing such violations would face disciplinary action. While less than 10% of civil servants commit offenses, unauthorized overseas travel and uncertified sick leave are frequent issues. The Jelajah Taat Setia MADANI Sabah programme, aimed at strengthening civil service integrity, drew over 2,000 participants. The initiative emphasizes efficiency, accountability, and loyalty, aligning with the Malaysia MADANI philosophy.
