Malaysia must produce more scientists, innovators to unlock space economy potential
Malaysia's Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Chang Lih Kang, stressed the need for more scientists, engineers, and innovators to capitalize on the growing global space economy. Speaking at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, he highlighted the sector's potential for economic growth, national sovereignty, and sustainable development. While Malaysia's space economy generated RM1.05 billion in 2023, the global market is projected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2040. Chang urged students to pursue STEM fields and emphasized MOSTI's commitment to supporting this through policies, funding, and collaboration, aiming to position Malaysia as a regional high-tech leader.
