Penang Yang di-Pertua Negri calls for inclusive welfare, urges review of state policies
Penang's new governor, Tun Ramli Ngah Talib, advocated for the continuation of the i-Sejahtera welfare program with a more targeted approach, prioritizing those in genuine need. He suggested incorporating sustainable solutions like skills training and microfinancing to empower recipients and reduce the state's financial burden. He praised the RM50.54 million allocated to i-Sejahtera last year, benefiting over 280,000 people, and emphasized the importance of regularly reviewing state planning, including the Penang Structure Plan 2040, to ensure alignment with Penang2030's aspirations. He committed to engaging directly with the public to understand their needs and shape policies accordingly.
