Sarawak govt extends free gas pipelines to 500 homes in Miri
The Sarawak government is providing free natural gas pipelines to 500 low-income homes in Taman Ceria, Permyjaya, Miri. This initiative, implemented through Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros), aims to reduce household expenses by replacing costly gas cylinders with piped natural gas. The installation, typically costing RM3,500 per home, is fully subsidized. Residents are expected to pay only RM5-RM10 monthly for piped gas, significantly less than the RM30-RM60 spent on cylinders. Around 2,000 residents are expected to benefit from this program under the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
