Sarawak strengthens myKP to empower inland fishing communities
The Sarawak Fisheries Department continues its myKomuniti Perikanan (myKP) Programme to empower inland fishing communities and promote sustainable fisheries. The programme enhances fishers' skills, promotes resource conservation, and contributes to national food security. Launched in Kuala Sibuti in 2020, the community has successfully implemented four projects: Fish Aggregating Device, Fishery Product Processing, Boat Maintenance Shed, and Belacan Processing, with RM239,985 allocated from 2020-2025. The programme covers various activities, including capture fisheries, aquaculture, and agro-tourism, showcasing the community's self-reliance and adaptability.
