Singapore Changi Airport starts Terminal 5 project to meet booming Asia travel demand
Construction has begun on Changi Airport's fifth terminal, marking a significant expansion for the world's fourth-busiest airport. Set to open in the mid-2030s, the terminal will initially handle 50 million passengers annually, with Singapore Airlines consolidating its operations there. A third runway, currently used by the military, will be integrated by 2030. The project, paused during the pandemic, has been redesigned for post-pandemic travel needs. Changi aims to connect to over 200 cities by the mid-2030s, capitalizing on projected growth in Asia-Pacific air travel.
