Gazettement of villages in Kukusan not politically driven, says Harapan Rakyat president
Four squatter villages in Tawau, Sabah, are on track to receive formal land recognition. Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, President of Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, confirmed the approval of 88.54 acres covering Kampung Sri Menanti, Airport Lama, Sentosa Block 4, and Kampung Hiltop. The expedited process, endorsed by Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, requires villagers to submit necessary documentation to the Tawau Land and Survey Department. Once gazetted, the villages will be eligible for government aid, including housing, roads, and community halls. Liew emphasized this is not a political ploy but a long-awaited solution for residents who have lived there for over four decades.
