Johor recorded its highest divorce rate in six years with 7,306 cases in 2024, a 132 case increase from 2023. Reasons cited include incompatibility, financial issues, irresponsible partners, and third-party interference. Divorce claims rose to 4,264, while confirmed divorce pronouncements increased to 2,462. Conversely, annulment requests decreased to 545. The 26-35 age group had the highest divorce rate between 2019 and 2024, totaling 16,159 cases. The Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) provides financial aid to eligible divorced women awaiting alimony enforcement.
