The Malaysian government's decision to lower petrol prices to RM1.99/litre while maintaining subsidies is expected to have minimal impact on Petronas Dagangan's retail volumes. Kenanga Research believes petrol demand is inelastic, citing stable diesel volumes after the 2024 subsidy rationalisation. While electric vehicle adoption is expected to eventually impact gasoline demand, Kenanga Research doesn't foresee this happening within the next five years due to infrastructure limitations and the reduced incentive for consumers to switch from internal combustion engines. Petronas Dagangan is prepared for any verification requirements related to the subsidy.
