Sarawak records nearly 2 mln visitors in first five months, Bruneians lead arrivals

Sarawak is on track to achieve its 2025 tourism target of five million visitors, having already welcomed nearly two million between January and May. Brunei and Indonesia contributed the most visitors, followed by China, Singapore, and the Philippines. Tourism revenue for the first five months reached RM5.07 billion, with a projected total of RM12.73 billion by year-end. Miri likely leads in tourist arrivals due to its proximity to Brunei and attractions like Niah and Mulu National Parks. The Sarawak Tourism Coordination Committee discussed challenges related to connectivity, infrastructure, and promotion.
