Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi stated the coalition is open to a grand coalition for the upcoming Sabah state election, but demands the return of seats lost due to defections. He emphasized reclaiming seats originally won by UMNO but lost to party-switching representatives. This follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's suggestion of an alliance between Pakatan Harapan (PH), BN, and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). Zahid confirmed BN will evaluate the proposal and address any conflicts to avoid overlapping candidacies. GRS has also expressed openness to collaboration for political stability.
