Sri Lankan authorities seized nearly 60kg of synthetic cannabis in three separate smuggling attempts this month. A British woman, an Indian man, and a Thai man were arrested, each carrying significant quantities of kush. The British woman, potentially facing life imprisonment, was caught with 46kg of the drug. This bust is considered one of the largest at Colombo airport recently. The Indian man was arrested with 4kg at a seaport, while the Thai man had nearly 8kg at the airport. Sri Lanka has become a transit point for drug trafficking, with previous large heroin seizures and life sentences given to Iranian smugglers.
