The coastal restoration project at Mengabang Telipot and Batu Rakit beaches, aimed at addressing severe monsoon erosion, is on schedule for completion by January 2027. With a RM69 million allocation from the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra), the project includes constructing 16 breakwaters. Eight breakwaters are targeted for completion before the Northeast Monsoon season in October 2025. Current progress ranges from 10% to 92% completion. Petra also reviewed other East Coast projects, including electric vehicle charging stations and the Kelantan River Basin Development project.
