The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) expressed concern over the humanitarian and political crisis in Myanmar following the 2021 military coup. GCC Assistant Secretary General Dr. Abdel Aziz Aluwaisheg, while acknowledging the issue's complexity, urged the international community for more concrete solutions. He reaffirmed GCC's support for multilateral efforts, including those by the UN and OIC, and highlighted the need for the safe return of Rohingya refugees. Aluwaisheg made these remarks during his visit to Kuala Lumpur for the ASEAN-GCC Summit, where Myanmar's crisis is a key topic. Malaysia, as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, is actively involved in finding a sustainable solution.
