Counterfeit engine oil sellers in Malaysia are deceiving consumers by reusing original bottles and filling them with low-quality recycled oil, often sold online at significantly lower prices. The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) advises buying from authorized dealers or branded petrol stations and verifying products via QR codes or serial numbers. A workshop operator highlighted the negative impact of fake oil on vehicle performance and the importance of using genuine products, but also noted that consumer demand for cheaper options fuels the counterfeit market.
