Former Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner has been sentenced to two years in prison by a US court for his significant role in the multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal. Leissner pleaded guilty in 2018 to conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and money laundering conspiracy. The sentence relates to his involvement in the scheme which saw billions embezzled from the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund.
