A 29-year-old e-hailing driver, Melvin Yen Wei Shern, pleaded guilty to robbing a gold shop and injuring a 70-year-old woman in Melaka. The incident occurred on May 22, 2025, at Kedai Emas Tai Kwong. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine or whipping. Sentencing is postponed to June 10. He allegedly committed the robbery to repay loan sharks debts exceeding RM70,000. Bail was denied.
