Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is being tried in absentia for orchestrating a "systematic attack" to quell a 2024 uprising that resulted in up to 1,400 deaths. Hasina, who fled to India, faces charges including abetment and conspiracy to commit mass murder. The International Crimes Tribunal's chief prosecutor stated the evidence points to a coordinated effort involving law enforcement and Hasina's party members. Two other officials, the former police chief and interior minister, are also charged. Hasina denies the charges, claiming they are politically motivated.
