Malaysia's Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that e-hailing apps InDrive and Maxim have been ordered to cease operations by July 24th for allegedly operating illegally. The companies can appeal, but the final decision rests with the minister. The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) issued the orders due to violations of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, including operating without valid E-Hailing Vehicle Permits (EVPs) for their drivers. The Malaysian P-Hailing Riders Association previously urged the government to take action against the platforms for not ensuring drivers held PSV licenses, e-hailing insurance, and underwent vehicle inspections.
