UNESCO added two cultural sites in Cameroon and Malawi to its World Heritage List. Cameroon's Diy-Gid-Biy landscape features archaeological sites surrounded by terraces and worship areas. Malawi's Mount Mulanje is considered a sacred site. Two other African sites, Gola Tiwai Forests in Sierra Leone and Bijagos Archipelago in Guinea-Bissau, are also under consideration. UNESCO aims to increase African representation on the list, which can boost tourism and preservation funding.
