PBS information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai clarified that the GRS slogan "Rumah Kita, Kita Jaga" (Our Home, We Take Care of It) emphasizes Sabahans' responsibility for their state and is not directed against the Federal Government. He explained it reflects Sabahans' deep connection to their homeland, echoing the state anthem's themes. Joniston stressed the slogan promotes local empowerment and decision-making, particularly by Sabah-based parties. While Sabah remains committed to Malaysia, he highlighted the need for equal partnership and consideration of Sabah's unique challenges in national policies. He criticized decisions made without consulting the Sabah government, citing examples like the JKDM and Ambalat oil and gas development. While acknowledging the increased special grant, he reiterated GRS's demand for the 40% revenue entitlement.
