Sarikei District Council's (SDC) e-waste recycling program has seen significant growth since its 2022 launch. Collecting 5,278 kg of e-waste and recyclables in its first year, the program saw a substantial increase to 13,369 kg in 2023 and a further jump to 27,954 kg in 2024. Commonly collected items include e-waste, plastic bottles, cans, and used cooking oil. SDC incentivizes participation by offering essential goods in exchange for recyclables. The initiative aims to promote proper e-waste disposal and reduce environmental harm caused by long-decomposing waste like plastic.
