A 25-year-old man in Japan developed "dropped head syndrome" due to excessive smartphone use, according to a case report in JOS Case Reports. Constantly looking down at his phone caused a large lump to form on the back of his neck, making him unable to lift his head. He experienced severe neck pain, difficulty swallowing, and weight loss. Bullying during his teenage years led to social isolation and increased phone usage. Surgery was required to remove scar tissue and insert metal rods to correct his posture. Six months later, he regained the ability to lift and hold his head properly.
