A Saudi airline, Flynas, has resumed flights for Iranian Hajj pilgrims for the first time in a decade, marking improved relations between the two countries. Over 35,000 pilgrims will travel from Tehran and Mashhad to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage in early June. This resumption follows the restoration of diplomatic ties in March 2023 after a seven-year rupture caused by attacks on Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran following the execution of a Shiite cleric. Previous Hajj pilgrimages for Iranians were restricted to chartered flights or entirely prohibited.
