Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg stated there are no new updates on the agreement between Petros and Petronas. He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is currently preoccupied with other matters. Abang Johari previously indicated an imminent agreement involving mutual recognition of laws, Petros as sole aggregator, and increased Sarawak's LNG stake. This follows a meeting chaired by Anwar and Abang Johari to finalize key principles and smooth negotiations. The collaboration aims to expedite energy supply to ASEAN markets and resolve outstanding issues, including Sarawak's claim against Petronas Carigali for operating without a valid permit under the DGO 2016.
