A volcano in eastern Indonesia, Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, erupted twice today, sending ash clouds over a kilometer high. Authorities raised the alert level to the highest after a series of eruptions yesterday sent ash plumes as high as 6 kilometers. Residents are urged to wear masks and avoid activity within a 6-kilometer radius of the crater. Last November, eruptions from the same volcano resulted in nine deaths, flight cancellations, and thousands of evacuations.
