Yemen's Houthi rebels announced a naval blockade on Israel's Haifa port in response to Tel Aviv's escalated Gaza offensive. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree warned all ships heading to or currently at Haifa port that it's now a target. This action is retaliatory against Israel's aggression towards Yemen and Gaza, with the blockade ending only when hostilities cease and the Gaza blockade is lifted. The announcement follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's declaration of taking control over the entire Gaza Strip. The Iran-backed Houthis have frequently targeted Israel with missiles and drones since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
