An 80-year-old woman and her 14-year-old granddaughter perished in a house fire in Kampung Pulau Penampang, Kota Kinabalu. The fire broke out early Tuesday morning, trapping the two victims inside while four other family members escaped. Firefighters responded swiftly but found the charred remains of Ruslia@Gisis Guntamas and Joeynita Abdul Alip after extinguishing the blaze. The concrete house was destroyed, and a nearby car sustained minor damage. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
