Miri has been allocated RM123.5 million for 14 development projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and public amenities. Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg stated this reflects the government's commitment to Miri's vision of becoming a green, smart, and resort city. Between 2015 and 2025, 548 Rural Transformation Programme projects totaling RM96.4 million and 16 'Projek Rakyat' initiatives worth RM110.5 million have been implemented. Miri is also developing as a higher education hub with Curtin University and the upcoming Fudan University Institutes of Integrative Medicine.
