The Penang undersea tunnel project, part of the Penang Third Link project, remains relevant and is expected to positively impact the state's development and public well-being. State Infrastructure and Transport Exco, Zairil Khir Johari, stated the project has the potential to alleviate severe traffic congestion frequently occurring on the Penang First Bridge and surrounding access routes. The new tunnel design considers efficiency, feasibility, effectiveness, and social and environmental impacts, making it a more sustainable alternative.
