A diabetic and chronic kidney patient in Kota Bharu, Malaysia, lost her ancestral home to a fire just 20 minutes after leaving to buy wound dressings. Nurlaila Haziqah Ismail, 37, and her husband, Mohd. Asri Rasid, 40, were alerted to the fire by a neighbor. The fire, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, destroyed the house, leaving the couple homeless and with no belongings. Nurlaila, who has been battling her illnesses for 14 years, and her husband, a laborer, are now staying with relatives and are unable to afford rebuilding their home.
