Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the outdated notion of language and economy being separate is no longer relevant. Developed nations like Japan, Korea, France, and Germany have proven that economic progress can be achieved without sacrificing their native languages. Speaking at the Public Bank and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka's Language Award launch, Anwar stressed that strengthening Bahasa Melayu shouldn't be symbolic but a vehicle for progress and civilization building. He lauded Public Bank's commitment to empowering the national language as an exemplary model, demonstrating that economic advancement and national identity can go hand in hand.
